Day Nursery in Woking, Surrey

Golden Owls Day Nursery is a Day Nursery and Pre School in Woking, Surrey. We opened in September 2013 and we are set in the grounds of Goldsworth Primary School in Woking. It is open 50 weeks of a year for children aged 2-4 years.

Our day nursery is a large open planned room with a large partition which we use to create smaller rooms at different times throughout the day.

The room is laid out considering the age groups we cater for. Our ‘Snowies’ area is resourced for some of our younger children and the ‘Barnies’ area in our room aims to cater for more of our older children. We use our discretion as to which rooms children spend time in depending on their stages of development. Our large, accessible and secure garden can also be used by different ages and we ensure that all our children have free flow access to both our indoor and outdoor areas for as much of the day as possible.

Snowies

Our snowies area includes a quiet, cosy book corner, water tray, carpet area and self selection shelves which encourage children to explore using their senses. We also have a large table where we encourage children to take part in activities that focus on developing their language, social skills and physical development.

Barnies

Our barnies area includes self selection trolleys and tables which encourage all aspects of developing literacy, mathematics and investigation skills in young children. We also have areas for children to construct and act out their play through small world resources eg building blocks, small animals etc, a carpeted area to share books and stories with others, a creative area which includes a self selection trolley with different media and textures, an art easel, playdough table/spot tray and a sand tray. There is also an area for children to act out their play which is changed and adapted to what the children are interested in at the time.
